New smoothie shop and nail salon looking to open in Jenkintown this summer

Two new businesses—a smoothie shop and a nail salon—were recently issued Zoning & Use permits by Jenkintown Borough. Glenside Local reached out to the business’ owners and learned the following:

Blendery, LLC

Blendery, LLC, a smoothie shop at 501 Washington Lane, Suite 1, is hoping to open in August or September.

Owner Bottrakhem Kaing says plans and blueprints for the brand-new building have been sent to the borough. Construction will follow.

Kaing already owns and manages two food trucks, Sip & Smooth and P n’ S, in greater Philadelphia.

“What makes us different from other smoothie shops is we use fresh fruit. We also have fruit salads,” Kaing, who lives just beyond the Cheltenham Township border, said. “Our menu can customize their own smoothie with proteins, sea moss, things like that. We’ll also have avocado toast and small sandwiches, but our focus is always the smoothies.”

Jenkintown Nail & Spa

Jenkintown Nail & Spa, a new construction at 501 Washington Lane, Suite 2 in Jenkintown, is expected to open in July.

Owner Kevin Kouch, a Glenside resident, says the shop will feature a nail salon and a spa with eight manicure tables, seven pedicure chairs, and a private waxing studio.

Both of Kouch’s sisters have nail spas of their own and will managing the nail salon on a day-to-day basis.

“Our expectation is to open on July 1, but construction issues may delay the opening,” Kouch said. “We chose this location because it has a lot of traffic and it’s close to the new Giant supermarket. It’s a very good location.”

Websites and social media outlets for the new stores are coming soon. We will be in touch with updates.

Borough manager George Locke told Glenside Local that their office recently issued five additional Zoning & Use permits. Among the recipients are Moody Jones Gallery, formerly of Glenside, which will take over the former La Bella Donna space next month, DLR Dream Suite, which will take over 610 Old York Road next month, and Gratz College, formerly of Melrose Park, which will take over an office space at 315 York Road.

“The retail and office spaces have been refurbished and/or have been newly constructed leading to a resurgence in our business district,” Locke said.
